WE WILL VOTE NDC OUT COME 2012......SAYS MAKOLA WOMEN

Traders, including market men and women are beside themselves with rage and discomfort.

“We are livid against the government,” was what they told Modernghana.com News when it attempted to find out more from them, their impressions about the general living conditions in the country, over last week-end.

Indeed, when Modernghana.com got to the Makola market in Accra, these market men and women could be seen gather in groups of about five, having discussions pertaining to the governance of the country.

These could be clearly seen and heard raving and ranting at the National Democratic Congress (NDC) Government for what they describe as its “inhumane and insensitivity” towards the plight of the citizenry.

Modernghana News got a bit closer to the first two groups which were not very far from each other and enquired about their concerns. “My brother, we are really suffering here; we come to sit from morning till night and we don't sell anything. The people are not buying anything at all,” Mr Frank Antwi, who was part of the group, remarked.

Agreeing with Frank, Maame Ama and Yaa Asantewa also said that they were “very disappointed in the present administration” with respect to the way things were going.

Asked what really their concerns were, they said they were made into believing that things would be better when NDC was voted to power: “It's very clear that we've been hoodwinked by the NDC.”

“They have pulled the wool over our eyes,” was what Serwah a plantain seller said in her frustration and anger.

According to them, some of them have now made up their minds not to vote at all in the next general elections.

“We've voted for the improvement in the housing stock, and appreciably high standards of living, but what we are going through is more than hell,” Adu Poku, a second-hand clothes seller also said in his disappointment.

Thus, these groups of traders could be seen the entire place, having discussions amongst themselves with regards to the quality of life of the ordinary Ghanaian.

They claimed that they contributed about 75% to 80% of the votes that the NDC had in the last general elections and warned that they would “teach the NDC a big lesson” so no politician would ever take them for granted again. Some said the only thing they required from the administration was improvement in their living conditions.

“They must create the jobs they promised us, the good health facility and the observance of the 'father for all' mantra,” was what others told Modernghana.com News
