Le Mans protest against Gyan

By ghanasoccernet.com

French Ligue 1 side Le Mans have charged to Professional Football League(LFP) to overturn the result of a 2-1 defeat against Rennes following the eligibility of Ghana striker Asamoah Gyan in the said match.

Le Mans claim there were doubts about the qualification of the 23-year-old ahead of their clah on 21 November.

The club have petitioned that the LFP come clean on his eligibility or declare Rennes losers and scrape Asamoah Gyan's winner.

Le Mans say they are responding to reports Gyan may not have been eligible to play having turned down selection for Ghana's friendly against Angola on November 18, three days before the Ligue 1 clash.

"Numerous reports of serious doubts about the eligibility of Asamoah Gyan for the match Rennes v Lens on November 21 have been brought to our attention in recent days," said the statement.

"In light of these, Le Mans have decided to appeal to the competition commission to look into the result of the match."

Gyan is currently the second topscorer with 8 goals in the French Ligue 1.
