‘Mills to reward C/R next year’

President John Evans Fiifi Atta Mills is set to reward his home region, the Central Region, next year for voting massively for him during the 2008 general election.

President Mills will also show his appreciation to his natives at Ekumfi by embarking on a massive infrastructural development next year for their loyalty to him and the National Democratic Congress (NDC) party.

This was disclosed by the Member of Parliament (MP) for Mfantsiman East, Hon Kuntu Blankson, during the constituency elections in the area on Wednesday.

According to Kuntu Blankson, plans are far underway for the Coca Cola Company to establish a citrus processing factory in Cape Coast to create employment for the indigenes next year.

He added that all major roads in Ekumfi will receive face-lift while water will also be supplied to all communities in the area early next year.

The MP stated that the projects were signs of big things to come to the region and the country as a whole under the leadership of Prof Mills and entreated Ghanaians to have patience with the learned professor.

He said the ruling government will surprise Ghanaians with its policies, indicating that their performance will urge Ghanaians to give the NDC a second chance in 2012.

Mr Kuntu Blankson advised NDC supporters to remain united and urged defeated aspirants to work with the newly appointed ones to enable the party retain power in the next elections.

The Central Regional Propaganda Secretary, Mr Allotey Jacobs, who is vying for the National Propaganda Secretary slot, commended the people for their support for the party and advised them to remain focused and not allow any party to destruct them to create disaffection within their ranks.

He also reiterated President Mills' commitment to reward the people of Ekumfi and the Central Region for voting for the NDC to come to power.

For his part, the Municipal Chief Executive (MCE) of Mfantsiman, Mr Kwaku Hayfron, commended the party members for holding the election peacefully and advised them not to allow the NPP dictate to them.

He promised to liaise with the MP for the area to bring about the needed development and also urged NDC members to remain united to brighten the chances of the party retaining power in 2012.

Mr Kwame Nkrumah was re-elected the Chairman for the constituency while Mr James Egan was elected the Vice Chairman.

Mr Samuel Sam was also elected the Propaganda Secretary; Mr Alex Fiifi Essuman, the Secretary; Mr Sam Kojo Anderson, Treasurer; Nuredeen Otoo, Youth Organiser and Madam Sarah Anderson, the Women's Organiser.

Mr Michael Aidoo, unopposed was declared the Constituency Organiser for the party.
