The Chief Justice, Her Ladyship Justice Georgina Theodora Wood, has called on Christians to use the upcoming Christmas and New Year festivities to entrench peace, love and unity in the country.
According to her, they should use the periods to extend love and care to everybody, irrespective of the person's religious, political ideologies and ethnicity.
Her Ladyship made the call in a speech read for her by Justice Samuel Marfo Sam, at a thanksgiving and fund-raising ceremony to run off the 25th Anniversary of the Adenta Charity Assembly of the Assemblies of God Church in Accra.
Mrs. Justice Wood noted that Jesus Christ prayed with both believers and non-believers, saying “You should also do the same.”
She urged Ghanaians to be steadfast in all their endeavours, so as to add their quota to the socio-economic development of the country.
The Senior Pastor of the church, Reverend Michael Emmanuel Boahen, thanked Almighty God for His faithfulness and sufficiency for all these 25 years in ministry.
He paid glowing tributes to all the past deacons and committee members who helped in diverse ways in the development and growth of the church.
In a brief history of the church, Reverend Joseph Baisie recounted that the late General Superintendent of Assemblies of God Ghana, Rev. W. W. Dontoh, established the church in July, 1984.
In another development the Presiding Archbishop and General Overseer of the Action Chapel International (ACI), Archbishop Nicholas Duncan-Williams, has ordained five Bishops and an Apostle, with a call on them to win more souls for Christ.
The Bishops are Joseph Nyarko-Antwi, Benjamin Agyei-Anom, Isaac Clive Mould, Dick Essando and Senyo Bulla, while Reverend Michael Adeyemi Adefarasin was ordained an Apostle.
Ordaining them, Archbishop Duncan-Williams charged the Bishops and the Apostle to spread the word of God to all corridors of the world, saying, “Let the treasures in you be activated.”
He prayed to God to guide these servants of God in the discharge of their duties, stressing, “You will not be blinded. Everything that blinded them let it be removed. Let the curse of blindness be removed. Let your sensitivity be activated. Henceforth, you will become another man.”
Apostle Randy Brown of the USA Branch of the ACI appealed to the newly-ordained Bishops and Apostles not to lord over the people, but to serve them with humility and love.
He advised them to be disciplined, respectful and caring to the people, and “guide the flock to achieve greater salvation.”
Speaking later at the church's Sacred Service of Episcopal Conservation, the Archbishop Duncan-Williams advised Ghanaians to lead moral and decent lifestyles.
