ARE THERE ANY DIFFERENCE BETWEEN PASTORS AND POLITICIANS THESE DAYS?
08.12.2009 LISTEN

Any avid and meticulous reader of the various websites and an itching listener of the plethora of the popular FMs might have wondered and be thrown into shock as to the horrors, horrendous and unpalatable news that are giraffing their ugly heads in the media about the so called "men of God" these days . Its appalling and an apology as to what we are hearing these days about Pastors. One cannot fathom and decipher as to where the world is heading to. The pastors who supposedly and ethically are to be the champions and torchbearers of unblemish attitudes are flagrantly misbehaving and misconducting themselves like way we see these charlatans and myrmidons politicians. Both professions begin with the letter "P" notwithstanding, ethically, civilty and decorum demands that there should a polarised difference between the two professions. But its very disheartening and worrying that what we see and hear these politicians are doing, are the same some pastors are found involved in.

When it comes to the broadday light misdeeds and misdemeanours of the politicians, we dont need to waste time to tabulate or give a chronological and empirical evidence to point them out, even the crankiest ignorant is aware of their lies, fraudulent and corruptible practices, their arrogance and indiscipline, character assassinations to score cheap political points and other shameless and unproductive in-fightings and longitudinal list of inglorious and dispicable deeds. But one is beside himself these days as to what we are hearing, reading and witnessing among some imposters and pretenders who are calling themselves "men of God ". Please lets be careful with this phraseology" men of God". As a matter of fact, I shudder to call any preacher a "man of God". I may not have any basis to doubt that man of Godism on any preacher, however Iam of the conviction that we have to be little circumspect when using such a spiritually sensitive phrase and titles.

Preferably and acceptably, they have to be called only by what have been categorically outlined in the bible like pastor, teacher, evangelist etc Eph 4:11 and other hyberbolic and self-aggrandized titles like General overseer, Bishop, Archbishop and others. This is because the aforementioned titles are what they say they are, but the "men of God" is what we give to them but are they really "men of God"? Did you hear God endorsing and confirming any of them as His man as God spoke about Jesus as His beloved son?.Let face it, there are bunch of preachers who are not men of God than those who are men of God, therefore, its of paramount importance the phrase "men of God" should be an exclusive preserve for God who knows his called ones and its God who knows their stinking agendas and egocentric interest but parading and masquerading in suites and Abodas as angels of light. Most preachers who are parading at the FMs and churches with all sorts of cacophonous noises are as deceiptive, pretenders and liars as the politicians we are witnessing in our midst.

Its disturbing and mindboggling that the glorious credentials and qualities of man of God enumerated and outlined in the book of 1Timothy 3:1-13 are conspicuously and glaringly absent in those who call themselves "men of God",but have been thrown to the fishes in the deep seas. Pastors who are to be the light and torchbearer of decency, frontliners of truth, champions of moral excellence and rectitude and promoters of peace and tranquility, have relegated and jettisoned all these ennobling biblical leadership qualities and gone beserked and rampaged in things that are at variance and run-counter to the call of God they profess to pledge and uphold. Few months ago the whole world was stund and bambozzled to witness two pastors from Ashanti region who were at each other's throat like these politician do and they never gave a demn. I mean men of God lambasting one another at the spectacle of the public. Its like a political party's foot soldiers fighting over public toilet and state own vehicles.

Its no secret that during political elections, politician visits mallams and other marabouts and jujumen to influence thier position. This has also become a shameless practice of some of these self-acclaimed men of God who according to confessions of some mallams they go to them "nicodemously" for powers to attract large crowds into their churches to get money and fame. But when you see these pretenders and self-styled preachers in their flamboyant and flashy suite, abodas and cars and you are hyper naive and ignorant you are tempted to call them "men of God". You know, reading from the book of Revelation chapters 2 and 3 you will realize how God saw churches in the Asia Minor differently from how they themselves and the public saw them. Studying the account carefully out of all the seven churches it was only two that God saw them as his approved church; and they were the church of Philadephia and smyrna. But the other five that men had described as hallowed and wonderful churches were disqualified by God. Particularly the church of Ephesus that saw themselves as spiritually rich and gorgeous, conversly, on God's marking scheme he rather described them as poor an naked. The same applied to the church in Sardies that saw themselves as having a name alive and mega church, but God disqualified them as a dead church.

And in fact, believe you me,there are churches and preachers today that look immaculately and splendidly outside but in the eyes of God they are dead. and I am not talking just about those "kiloko, kerosine and matches" churches but those charismatics churches as well, with their pompous and arrogant General overseers ,Bishops and Archbishops. People have been lambasting and castigating the politicians about their profligate lifestyle whilst the masses are languishing in poverty, but what about these church leaders with their flamboyant display of suites, Abodas and flashy cars, whilst the majority of their pastors in the villages are struggling with their families as to how to get some basic needs.. What is the difference of such unconscionable and insensitivity between the pastors and politicians? They say the political leaders are only mindful of the cities and big towns but have ignored and relegated the villages outside their development plans etc. But what about those church leaders and founders who make so much noise that God told them to establish thousand churches all over the world. But when these leaders and founders are visiting their churches where do they go? They visit externally their milky and honey churches in USA, Holland, Britain and the likes. Internally, they visit their churches in Accra, Kumasi, Cape Coast and other metropolis. What about the villages and hinterlands churches? They never go there because they are to big and flashy for such places. If you want the veracity of it go and ask their villages pastors, yet they want to see the faces of these struggling and financially emaciated pastors at every conference time in Accra or Kumasi and if you dont go the Sanhedrin have a bone to pick with you.You have no idea as to what happen in the churches. What is the difference and that of the politicians?

Sometimes we are tempted to think dirty politics are only being played at the christianborg castle and modern day Jubilee House. take a critical look at the churches or go near to some whistle blowers inside these charismatic churches and you will be dumbfounded and stupified as to the politics of character assassination, divide and rule, in-fighting, money minded preachers, senior pastors who have turned their fellow junior pastors into errand boys, who should occupy which position, moral decadence and spiritual destitution etc. Few weeks ago it appeared in the media how a certain Bishop condoned and colluded in human parts business with supposedly a 23year old pastor on a spiritual undermining adventure to pull another preacher down. Later it came out that it was an allegation and orchestration to destroy and derogate the bishop. However, there is no smoke without fire and Apostle Paul said in Eph 5:3 that let not this thing once be named among you. This is something that is named among the politicians, even if its an allegation. Its a shame, to say the least, to be name among the so called men of God.

Somebody said Ghana is a predominantly a christian nation. Give me a break; the bible has become just a cover-up canopy in Ghana and the entire Africans. Sometimes one wonders who are those who go to church, not forgeting the fm preachings 24/7 but corruption, lies, evil deeds, making money by hook or crook. From our airport workers, taxi drivers, offices and every corner of working departments in the nation are made up of christians but the dubious and unhealthy manner people make money at the expense of others, leaves much to be desired, because most of the preachers themselves who supposedly the custodians of the "goodbook" are rottenly rascles. Christianity in Ghana is only a sham and a hoax, that is why the nation is not experiencing the benefits and the fruits that goes with the people of God. Isaiah1:19-20 says "if you become obedient you will eat the fruits of the land but if you rebel you will suffer".So why all these christianity all over but pains? Because from the president to the man on the street and from the pastors to the ordinary church goer are all infested with bubonic and endemic disease of lies, cheating, hypocrisy and a whole lot of malpractices in small places and higher places In The book of Judges 6:13 Gideon question the angel if God is with us why are we suffering under the bondage of the medianites? But at that time Gideon had forgotten that the nation Israel had veered from God. Lets face it, Ghanaians and for that matter African Christianity have a name alive as a continent that attend church so much but in actual fact its a dead christianity. God Help us all and bless you.
