Mr Maxwell Kofi Jumah, Member of Parliament for Asokwa, has given GH¢25,000 to support the upgrading of infrastructure at the Kumasi South Regional Hospital at Kyirapatre.
The money comes from his share of the MP's Common Fund .
Mr Jumah said he was determined to see facilities and conditions there brought to a level befitting the status of a regional hospital.
He praised the management and staff for dedication and professionalism that had significantly raised the quality of health care delivery to the people.
The ceremony coincided with a reception held in honour of two United States medical students who are leaving at the end of their internship at the facility.
Dr Frank Abebrese, Medical Director of the Hospital, said they are grateful to Mr Jumah for the assistance.
He said although the health facility had been raised to regional hospital status, the infrastructure was yet to match the new position and called for more support.
Mrs Rose Addy, the Administrator of the Hospital, said increased patronage would ease pressure on the Komfo Anokye Teaching Hospital and that the hospital was doing everything possible to promote safe motherhood and prevent maternal mortality .
