Accra, Dec. 3, GNA - The District Commander of the Korle Bu Police Station, Assistant Superintendent of Police (ASP) Abraham Apusiyieme has appealed to the people to volunteer credible information to the police to rid the society of criminals.

He said the Ghana Police Service have handsome rewards for informants.

"We are seriously tackling crime, but there is the need for society to assist the police to arrest offenders," he said.

ASP Apusiyieme made the appeal when the Assembly woman for Sabon Zongo Electoral Area, Miss Jane Oku paid a courtesy call on him in Accra.

The meeting discussed the strange murders going on in the area and how best the community could collaborate with the police to arrest the perpetrators.

The ASP Apusiyieme said most of the people who commit crimes were living in the same community with their relatives and it was time the public expose them for their arrest and prosecution.

He asked the Assembly woman to organize his people to form community watchdog committees to track down the criminals in the area.

Miss Jane Oku assured the police that a watchdog committee would be formed immediately to complement the efforts of the police to fight crime.

She said people in the area were now living in fear due to the killings for the past two months.
