Ghana striker Junior Agogo is keen on returning to the Black Stars fold after impressing for Cypriot side Apollon Limassol.
The former Notthingham Forest striker has not played major role for the Black Stars after suffering a turbulent nine-month spell with Egyptian side Zamalek.
He fell down the pecking order with strikers Matthew Amoah, Prince Tagoe and Asamoah Gyan impressing under Serbian boss Milovan Rajevac.
But the 30-year-old Agogo has put up some performances and he is on the verge of recapturing his assertiveness infront of goal.
He was invited for the Black Stars World Cup qualifier against Sudan at home in September but was ruled out for selection after sustaining a rib injury.
The former Barnet and QPR forward claims he has hit the ground running at the right time and harbours hopes of a recall into the national team.
"It was a bitter experience for me and I am glad I have gone through it and now getting better here in Cyprus with my club," Agogo told Citi FM.
"I don't want to discuss what I went through in Egypt because it was horrible but what is important is that I am playing well and improving match after match.
"I am anxiously waiting for that call to prove to my supporters that I am back to my old self and really loking forward to that golden call."
Agogo was Ghana's joint top scorer with Mathew Amoah in the 2010 World Cup qualifying campaign with four goals.
But he must fight for the place as the Serbian manager is already looking elsewhere to bolster the squad.
Inter Milan striker Mario Balotelli is likely to join the Black Stars if he agrees to play for Ghana.
That possibility increases competition for a place in the attacking department of the Black Stars.
