VEEP urges muslims to assist less endowed fellows

Vice President John Mahama, has challenged affluent Muslims to assist less endowed Muslims to also rise to prominence. He said it is through helping one another, that shackles of poverty can be overcome.

The vice president threw the challenge, when he donated some food items to the national chief Imam Sheikh Osman Nuhu Shaributu, to distribute to less endowed Muslims, as they celebrate this year's Eld Ul Adha. The items included fifty bags of rice, ten bags of sugar, ten rams and a cow.

The Vice President said, much sacrifices should be extended to areas of national development.

He said, it is important for all to make sacrifices to overcome poverty, disease and multi- dimensional problems facing the country to make it productive and self sustaining.

Vice President Mahama commended the chief Imam, for his able leadership, which has ensured peaceful co-existence between the Muslim community and other religious groups.
