Twelve companies support farmers day celebration

A total of 12 companies have donated various products and cash valued at more than GH¢83,000 to the Ministry of Food and Agriculture towards the celebration of this year's Farmers Day.

They were Poly Group of companies, C. Woermann, Merchant Bank, Chemico Ltd, Ghana Rubber Estates Ltd, SIDALCO, KYTECH AND Pioneer Food Cannery.

The rest were Japan Motors, MULTIVET, OWUNDANOTI and Ghana Ports and Habours Authority.

Most of the companies have been donating towards the celebrations over the years and expressed their unflinching support in subsequent years.

The Deputy Minister of Food and Agriculture in charge of Livestock, Alfred Sugri Tia, receiving the donations on behalf of the sector minister, Kwesi Ahwoi, expressed gratitude to the companies for their support over the years, saying the gesture would be  a morals booster for farmers and fishermen to increase agriculture production.

He appealed to other individuals and companies to donate towards this worthy cause.

This year's celebration which is the twenty – fifth will be held in Tamale.
