The search for a new person to take up the position as Managing Director of the Ghana Commercial Bank (GCB) is gathering a lot of storm after almost a month without the board settling on a successor. Names short listed for the job include Managing Director of Stanbic Bank, Mr. Alhassan Andani and Deputy Managing Director of UniBank, John Kofi Mensah, The Chronicle has learnt.
Information available to The Chronicle a fortnight ago, suggest that cabinet and the Board has settled on John Kofi Mensah to take up the top job at GCB, but that is yet to see the light of day due to some powers within the corridors of the Ministry of Finance who are prolonging the process.
Latest Information picked up by The Chronicle from reliable sources indicate that the delay in announcing a candidate for the job is causing an uneasy calm within circles of the Central Regional branch of the National Democratic Congress who are raging at alleged attempts to sideline John Kofi Mensah – a native of the Central region - in the process. Meanwhile, sources at the Ministry of Finance say the Board is winding up its selection process and would come out with a qualified person fit for the job soon.
