What proves NPP sponsored killings? NDC MP questions
23.11.2009 LISTEN

The Member of Parliament (MP) for Tamale Central, Alhaji Inusah Fuseini, has questioned the basis for a newspaper publication suggesting that the death of the former Convention People's Party Chairman for Tamale Central Issah Mobila in the hands of soldiers was orchestrated by the New Patriotic Party (NPP).

The Daily Post newspaper in its Monday, 23 November, 2009 edition reported that the NPP was responsible for the killing of certain key people in the country, including, Issah Mobila, Yaa Naa and many others.

But speaking on Metro TV Monday morning, Alhaji Fuseini said “I don't think that any paper has the right to jump to conclusion before matters of criminality are determined by proper jurisdictions.

How do you determine that NPP did the killings?” He questioned.

“Even assuming but not admitting that certain persons were connected with the party, how can you conclude that those persons got the approval of the party as an institution?” he asked.

According to him, he was in court on the day when the case involving the three soldiers who allegedly killed Mobila was called and “the judge asked all the right questions."

He said it was revealed there that Seth Goka, also known as Awol had left the barracks without permission. Therefore, what the paper reported, he said, is not a true reflection of what actually happened in court on the day.

Meanwhile, the MP has called on all Ghanaians to question the military establishment they allowed the suspects to go about their normal duties at the barracks when a court of competent jurisdiction had ordered that they should be kept in custody.

He stated that the decision taken by the military was “grossly wrong.”

“They were walking about freely at the barracks, [meanwhile] when I and you, our families and relations are charged with a crime of that nature, we will never see the light of the day until the matter is tried,” he added.
