A circuit court at Mpraeso, on Thursday placed an interim injunction on the election of chairman for Mpraeso Constituency National Democratic Congress .
GNA learnt that the action followed a writ filed by Mr Noah Yaw Adjei, a supporter of the NDC in the constituency, to stop Mr Mahama Salifu from contesting for the constituency chairmanship position.
The District Electoral Officer, Mr Yaw Peprah received a court order restraining him from conducting the chairmanship election at the delegate's conference of the party at Mpraeso while voting was in progress to elect the constituency Women and Youth Organizers.
Though the order was to prevent the election of a constituency chairman, the conference came to an abrupt end.
The Eastern Regional Vice Chairman of the party, Mr Daniel Ansong informed the delegates that he had a telephone call from General Secretary of the party, Mr Johnson Asiedu Nketia that that the elections for the other positions should be stopped until the determination of the court injunction.
Present at the conference were the Eastern Regional Organizer of the party, Mr Tawiah Boateng, the Regional Women's Organizer, Mrs Evelyn Korang, Mr Kweku Asamoah, the Regional Youth Organizer and the Kwahu South District Chief Executive, Mr Joseph Omare.
