THE Director of Ghana Institute of Management and Public Administration(GIMPA), Dr Stephen Adei, has called for a more pragmatic approach to arrest the declining performance of Ghana Airways.
“ I am unhappy with any administration that allows the ‘crime’ of Ghana Airways to persist the way we know it,” he said.
Dr Adei was speaking at a handing over ceremony of the Chartered Institute of Marketing (CIM), Ghana and launching of marketing books in Accra last Friday. The director who spoke on the topic: Branding Corporate Ghana: The Way Forward, was attended by members of CIM, marketing students and representatives from corporate organisations.
Dr Adei said that Ghanaians should brand Ghana in a way it will attract investors and tourists for the socio-economic development of the country.
He said branding Ghana will entail a strategy to promote it, including selection and training of the country’s ambassadors and embassy staff to be of a shining example of good diplomats.
According to him, nations all over the world are effectively engaging in proactive brand marketing to win high tech jobs and capital to fuel their economies.
Dr Adei said the nation must improve its infrastructure, eschew corruption, improve on education and health in order to attract investors and tourists for development. He urged the government to spearhead efforts at branding the country in order to achieve its strategic vision and plans.
