AAU to mark African University day

The Association of African Universities (AAU) will commemorate the African University day which falls tomorrow.  The day will bring together Public Universities in Ghana as well as other private Universities, non-higher education institution and the corporate sector.

There will be a public lecture tomorrow to discuss the theme of the day, which is “African Universities linkages with the productive sector.”

The association believes that the productive sector has a say in what should be taught at the tertiary level, to meet their requirement, since they are the main employers on graduates of the higher education.

The association was founded in November 12, 1967 in Rabat Morocco, with an initial membership of 34 public universities.

It serves as the continental organization and principal forum for exchange of ideas and cooperation among higher education institutions in Africa.

The association which has its headquarters in Accra now has a membership of two hundred and 15from 44 African countries.
