Government has received $60,000 from the Ivorian government to support the rebuilding of the Foreign Affairs Ministry office complex.

Making the presentation on behalf of Ivorian President Laurent Gbagbo, the Ivorian Ambassador to Ghana, Emmanuel Auguste Ackah, said his country's show of support to Ghanaians after the unfortunate fire that destroyed the Foreign Affairs Ministry complex is part of its efforts to tighten ties with Ghana.

Fire gutted the 10-storey Foreign Affairs Ministry three weeks ago destroying properties running into several thousands of cedis.

While the Indian government has pledged to construct a new office complex for the ministry at the new Airport location secured by the ministry, the Ivorian donation might just be part of a pool of resources being gathered to raise the edifice.

Foreign Minister, Alhaji Mumuni described the gesture as an expression of friendship and of solidarity and indicative of the strong ties existing between the two countries.

The new office complex for the ministry will be completed in two years but before then the Foreign Affairs Ministry will be located in the prestigious Golden Jubilee House.
