Accra bourse index in a slight recovery

Accra, Nov. 2, GNA - The main index of the Ghana Stock Exchange (GSE), the All-Share Index, made a rare gain in trading on Tuesday, boosted by price appreciation in Ecobank Ghana and Guinness Ghana Breweries Limited.

The index closed the session up by 29.93 points to end at 5,408.65 points compared to 5,378.72 points on Monday.

Ecobank, basking in an impressive third quarter performance, led the rally with a GH¢0.10 gain to close at GH¢2.90 and Guinness Ghana Breweries Limited went up by GH¢0.01 at GH¢1.33 to reverse the continuous downward trend.

Change for the year closed the session at -48.15 per cent.

Traded volumes closed the session up more than six times at 906,012 shares from 144,263 shares on the back of a block trade in State Insurance Company, which sold 732,000 shares.

Market capitalisation moved up marginally at GH¢15,271.55 million from GH¢15,249.75 million at the previous close.
