President John Evans Atta Mills on Wednesday reminded Ghanaian diplomats on the need to apply their qualities and skills effectively in their countries of accreditation. President Mills was swearing-in two ambassadors and a high commissioner at the Osu Castle.
They were Mr Modestus Yawo Zebu Ahiable Ghana's Ambassador to Benin, Mr John Maxwell Kwadjo, Ghana's Ambassador to Togo and Mr Robert Tachie-Menson, Ghana's High Commissioner to India. They took the Oaths of Office, Secrecy and Allegiance.
He said the task ahead was onerous and expressed the hope they would live up to expectation.
Alhaji Mohammad Mumuni, Minister of Foreign Affairs and Regional Integration asked the envoys to reflect the high qualities of dignity, honesty, humility, integrity and compassion.
He said as diplomats to implement Ghana' foreign policy agenda, they were expected to assist government to achieve its Better Ghana agenda.
Alhaji Mumuni urged the ambassadors to Benin and Togo to be mindful of the historical, cultural, social and economic links between Ghana and the two countries to maintain good neighbourliness among West African countries.
He said the Co-Prosperity Zone required them to team up with their colleagues to accelerate development in the West African sub- region
Mr Kwadjo, on behalf of his colleagues thanked the government for the confidence reposed in them and pledged to discharge their duties diligently.
