Ghanaians asked to be ICT oriented
The Deputy Minister of Communications, Gideon Quarcoo has expressed the need for Ghana to invest more to enhance her people's capacity to develop.
Ghanaians should also use and sell information, knowledge and technology both locally and internationally to be competitive in the global market.
He said the effective use of Information and Communications Technology to improve services, products and processes will guarantee the socio-economic development fortunes of the country.
Mr. Quarcoo was speaking at this year's ICT Expo of the Valley View University at Oyibi in the Dangme West District.
This year's exhibition is being held to commemorate the 30th anniversary of the University.
The Deputy Minister said the country will ensure quality service delivery if it invests in developing the ICT skills of the labour force and the youth through in-service training and classroom education.
He noted that the main objective of tertiary institutions is to train students to be critical thinkers able to leverage knowledge, skills and example in the pursuit of life-long learning through research and professional services.
A lecturer at the Department of Computer Science of the University, Robert Akpalu said the ICT expo is the fifth in a series and is aimed at showcasing exploits of students of the University in the provision of industry-oriented ICT products.
