GJA mourns K.B. Wood
Accra, Oct. 23, GNA - The Ghana Journalists Association (GJA) says it
has learnt with deep sorrow the sudden death of its former Elections
Officer, Mr Kenneth Bret Wood.
Mr Wood, 71, died on October 20 at the Royal Surrey County Hospital, at
Guildford in the United Kingdom.
A statement signed by Mr Bright Blewu, GJA General Secretary, said: "We
consider his death a great loss to the Association. "
Mr Wood became Elections Officer of the GJA in 1983 while he was News
Editor of the Ghana News Agency (GNA). He took over from the late Mr Bright
Michael Opoku, who was then the Head of the Foreign Desk of GNA.
"The late K.B. Wood believed in fair play and performed his duties as
Elections Officer creditably. That helped, among other things, to generate
interest in the Association."
The GJA said Mr Wood distinguished himself as a true democrat and made
significant contributions to the development of the GJA even after he became
the Supervising Chief Editor of the GNA.
The GJA then appointed Mr Mawusi Afele, currently the News Editor of the
GNA, as Elections Officer.
