Bibiani (W/R), Sept 30, GNA – Deputy Superintendent of Police Francis Enorh, the Bibiani-Anhwiaso-Bekwai District Police Commander, has cautioned personnel of the service to stay away from chieftaincy matters.
They should also not allow themselves to be used as debt collectors and those who engaged in these and other acts that are unhelpful to the image of the service would face punitive sanctions.
Mr Enorh said this at his maiden meeting with officers and men serving under his command at Bibiani. He takes over from Deputy Superintendent of Police Sampson Anane-Appiah who is on transfer to Wassa-Akropong.
He demanded from his men renewed commitment to the fight to bring down the high incidence of murder and other crimes in the area to win public confidence.
Mr Enor expressed concern about the poor state of the Bibiani police barracks and appealed to the district assembly for support to put it to good shape.
Lack of accommodation is a serious problem facing police personnel in the district, especially the headquarters in Bibiani.
Some junior officers are paired in a room with no toilet facilities and bathhouse at the barracks.
Mr. Moses Kofi Armah, the District Chief Executive, has undertaken to ensure that the barracks is refurbished by the assembly to motivate the police to perform.
