Accra, Sept. 30, GNA - The Youth Parliament of the Nyanpkala Campus of the University of Development Studies (UDS) has elected Ms. Hussaina Hamidu Kumbo as its Speaker.
A statement received in Accra on Wednesday said she is the first Speaker of Youth Parliament in the country.
She was sworn in last Thursday by the Secretary of the Students Representative Council, Mr Emmanuel Baloba.
Ms Kumbo then swore in all members of the youth club for the 2009/10 academic year.
Ms. Hussaina is a final year student of the Faculty of Agriculture of UDS – Nyankpala, and the immediate past women's commissioner of the local National Union of Ghana Students.
The UDS Youth parliament is a parliamentary youth club on campus and a branch of national youth parliaments that seek to educate and nurture the youth on parliamentary practice and procedure so as to infuse in them the requisite attitude and skills to entrench the tenets of parliamentary multiparty democracy in the country.
