RE-WAS BONIFACE £500.00 A GIFT OR A BRIBE?

On the 28th September, 2009, an article I wrote under the above heading was published on Ghanaweb, after it was earlier published on modernghana.com on the 26thSeptember, 2009. Immediately it was published a potpourri of comments started flying from every direction. Infact the comments were basically insults which I welcome anyway with open hands, arms, legs, and heart.

You see, I wrote that article on the 25th September, 2009, that is the very day Mabey and Johnson appeared at the Southwark crown court in London. The facts available to anybody on the 25th September, 2009 were that, Honourable Boniface was said to have received £500.00 to pay his fees. Then I expressed my views on that, quoting both Boniface and Joyfm which were my source of the news. This featured in that write up and anybody who read my article would have come to a fair conclusion that, it was written before the details emerged other details could still come out though.

What I did immediately the article was published on Ghanaweb was to post a comment under the write up to explain that, it was written much earlier before the details of the matter emerged I did promise that, I will now express my opinion on the issue now that, more facts have emerged.

With all these explanations I respectfully gave, some persons still went ahead to call me a whole lot of names. Like I said earlier I welcome all those comments including even those that I still do not understand even as of now.

I know that, anytime I put my pen on paper what I am going to write will attract comments. I don't expect that, readers should praise me 24hours a day, 7days in a week, 30days in a month, 52weeks in a year and 365/6 days in a year I know this!! This explains why I don't even reply to persons who insult me after reading my write-ups I think it is their very best way of expressing themselves which I welcome with all sincerity.

They are some other wonderful readers who email me with lots of suggestions which I do even incorporate into my other write ups, to such persons I say thank you! You are the reasons I continue to write! A madman once told me “No one is a bank of knowledge” everyday that saying makes sense to me.

I did state some reaction to the alleged bribery case in my earlier write up, but let me repeat same here firstly, just as everybody is saying those whose names have come up especially, the Dr. Ato Quarshies, the Dr Sipa Yankeys, the Kwame Peprahs, and the Baba Kamaras among others who are currently occupying positions in the current NDC administration must respectfully resign even before President mills gives them the Sack!

Infact President Mills will be highly unfair to Ghanaians if he allows such persons to stay in office up to next week. There is no any other best time to crack the wipe than now. I hope Mills will not wait to hear from T.B. Joshua his Nigerian spiritual leader before he acts.

My other reservations are that, it is hugely unacceptable for President Mills to have directed his Attorney General to conduct further investigations into the case rather than the right agencies whose mandate it is to conduct such investigations.

Why did President Mills not ask the Bureau of National Investigations (BNI), the criminal Investigations Department (CID) or the Serious Fraud Office (SFO) to conduct such an investigation but rather the Attorney General?? Is the office of the Attorney General now an investigative rather than a prosecutorial body?

In other words why are those persons whose names have come up not picked up by the BNI and interrogated without their lawyers like members of the opposition are undergoing? Is this not a big shame and an insult to the government of the NDC, and the rule of law President Mills promised Ghanaians when he was earnestly looking for power?

As for honourable Boniface he is politically finished!! This case ends all his political life. The case is simple; no political party in its right senses will allow him to come near any executive position again. May I even advise him to shield his dreams of wanting to become a National Executive officer of the New Patriotic Party (NPP). Infact Boni you have let us down! Why did you even grant that interview to Joyfm on the 25th September, 2009 when you knew you were lying? Misleading some of us for that matter.

It was my friend Muntanka Mubarak the former sports minister who disappointed me the other time and now it is you.

And to all those in government now who are accepting kickbacks this case should be a warning to you several years from now time will catch up with you and it would be so painful to you then, and cause your entire family an indelible embarrassment when that day comes. A word to the wise it is said is enough!
