THE ANGLICAN BISHOP of Kumasi Rt. Reverend Daniel Yinka Sarfo has bemoaned the recent mushrooming of self-styled men of God in the country.

He said he was worried about this unchecked situation because these so-called ministers have turned the service of God into a gold mine and are exploiting unsuspecting members of the public.

According to him, the conduct of some of these self-appointed men clearly demonstrates they lack the ability to proficiently propagate the gospel.

The Bishop made these observations during the opening of the North Carolina College of Theology (NCCT) affiliate campus in Kumasi over the weekend.

Though the service of God is basically a calling, the overall knowledge capacity of such persons is an essential prerequisite, if he is to succeed as a trustworthy minister.

Against this conviction, he entreated pastors not to hesitate in upgrading their knowledge at credible institutions, particularly Bible and theology schools.

The opening of the affiliate campus which is the first to be established by NCCT is the brainchild of Dr Francis Akwaboah, founder and leader of Christian Hope Ministry in Kumasi.

The school which is scheduled to commence this month would provide a platform for students to pursue diplomas, associate, masters and doctorate degrees in biblical studies and theology.

Being an affiliate of NCCT, students pursuing various courses of study ranging from one to three years, would be awarded certificates endorsed by the mother college in US.

Dr Akwaboah who would be the President of the school thanked the board and management of NCCT for helping him realize his long cherished dream.

He emphasized it was always his wish to establish a credible bible college to help train qualified persons to champion the work of God by winning more souls for Him.

Dr Akwaboah himself a product of NCCT promised to work assiduously to ensure the school grows from strength to strength as a means of encouraging NCCT to establish more affiliate campuses across Africa.

Stressing that he would run an open-door policy to enable all manner of people to enroll, he urged people from all walks of life within and outside Ghana to take the opportunity and acquire requisite knowledge of ministerial work.

Opening the school, Dr Herald Pop, an Executive Member of NCCT stressed the establishment of the Ghana campus would   change lives around the country.

He promised his outfit's unrelenting assistance in diverse ways to ensure the school becomes one of the best bible colleges in Africa and beyond.
