An agreement has been signed between the National Vocational Training Institute and the Fit Firm Foundation, a local non-governmental organization, (NGO), to train, upgrade and sharpen the technical skills and capabilities of the human resource in the vehicle maintenance industry.

In an address, the Chairman of the Board of Directors of Fit Firm Foundation, Monica Martinson, said efforts are being made to groom master craftsmen in the vehicle maintenance industry to use modern approaches in the repair of vehicles.

There are also plans to re-introduce Authorized Dealership between major garages and trained qualified Mechanics.

She called on government and the Ministers involved to set up a supervisory body to help open up the sector.

The Director of the National Vocational Training Institute, Stephen Amponsah called on the public to change their mindset about vocational and technical apprenticeship.

He hoped the signing of the agreement would go a long way to strengthen the bonds between the NVTI and Fit Firm Foundation.
