The Daily Graphic embraces the decision of the Ghana Highway Authority to commence rehabilitation works on the motorway at a cost of 500 thousand Ghana cedis. To the paper, a major portion of the nation's fortune was used to build the motorway for which reason every citizen owes it a duty to protect it as a state asset.

The Graphic appeals to the authority to step up its surveillance on truck drivers plying the motorway to ensure that they comply with the regulations. It condemns the disclosure that certain unscrupulous staff of the Authority collude with truck drivers to abuse the axe-load regulation.

The Ghanaian Times urges leaders of all the political parties to draw lessons from what happened at Akwatia and to ensure that they are never respeated in the subsequent elections. It says though the peace walk preceding the Akwatia election by the Chairmen of the NDC and NPP has sent positive signals to the supporters of the parties, the paper, thinks the move was a little bit late.
