Accra, Aug. 12, GNA - Two years after the Ghana@50 celebrations, most Metropolitan, Municipal and District Assemblies are still keeping anniversary mathematical sets and Compact Discs (CDs) that were meant to be distributed to basic schools.

While some of the Assemblies had made part distribution to beneficiary schools, others were still keeping them intact in their stores.

These came to light when five Assemblies, namely Cape Coast Metropolitan, Ho, Effutu, Upper West Denkyira Municipal and Jasikan District Assemblies all confirmed to the Ghana@50 Commission that there were still large consignments of the items in their stores.

While Ho, Jasikan and Upper West Denkyira assemblies were yet to distribute their mathematical sets and CDs, Cape Coast Metropolitan and Effutu had distributed part of the items to schools and promised to distribute the rest in the coming weeks.

The CDs contain historical events and some important sites of the country, and were to be sold to schools and the general public, while the mathematical sets were to be distributed to school children free as part of the celebration.

Most of the Assemblies complained that the items arrived late and therefore they could not be distributed.
