Avoid partisan politics in your work- Assemblies told

Shama (W/R), Aug. 11, GNA - Madam Emelia Arthur, District Chief Executive of Shama, has urged members of the assembly to discharge their duties effectively and diligently devoid of partisan politics.

"Hard work, commitment and teamwork are very important to the development of the assemblies," she said.

Madam Arthur said this at the inauguration of the District Audit Report Implementation Committee (ARIC) at Shama.

She advised members of the Assembly to look at issues dispassionately and objectively to ensure effective control and management of the resources.

She explained that members of ARIC are to promote the effective functioning of the Metropolitan, Municipal and District Assemblies Internal Audit Unit and follow up on the implementation of audit recommendation.

"This is to help ensure the effective utilization of public resources," she said.

Madam Arthur said ARIC members shall have unrestricted access to all information, documents, personnel and adequate resources in order to fulfil their responsibilities.

"It is therefore important that the governing board of all assemblies should support ARIC to ensure that its operations are independent," she said.

Mr Ransford Adjei, Deputy Director General of Internal Audit Agency said there was the need for members to know the vision and mission of the assembly as well as what it wants to achieve.

Also, he said they should be interested in monitoring the activities of the assembly, adding "always do things in a professional manner by discussing projects which will be beneficial to all.

"You should not encourage fraudulent activities which lead to corruption," he advised.

He advised them to work as a team to improve the activities of the assembly and move it forward.

ARIC has Mr Joseph Arthur the Presiding Member (PM) of Shama as chairman. The members include Madam Emelia Arthur, the Shama DCE, Mr Augustine Nyamekye, the Finance and Administrative Chairman of the Shama District Assembly, Mr David Gorman Hammond, the District Coordinating Director and Mr Baah Wiafe, an External Auditor.
