The Obama Serenades XVII
A stiff
upper lip,
this lurid test
of black
and white
love
in broad
daylight;
this passing
blight of
raw
youthful
lust…
in another time
and same place,
it would have
been reckoned
a scandal
of utmost
shame;
and
to be
certain,
a scandal
of great
shame
it was…
a stiff
upper lip,
deep
bated breath,
a hard gulp
or two,
a sharp
clamp
of eyelids
and
the darkest hour
of night
shall soon
be gone…
nightmarish
cloud with
faint
and barely
visible patch
of light
suspended
beneath;
tabooed
dream
nearly
aborted
for the sake
of culture
and
kinship
bonds…
then,
mirthfully,
comes
the space-age,
the curious
image of
a dark-brown
tot on his
white
grandpa's
yoke;
at last,
Eden is
restored,
the swift
sweet
death of
this black
and white
love
jinx
proclaimed…
yes,
it is
the latest
rage,
this curious
icon of
a dark-brown
tot on his
white
grandpa's
yoke…
