Amantena (Ash), Aug. 4, GNA - The Asante Akim North Municipal Assembly has expressed concern about the number of people from the area, who gained admission into tertiary institutions and said steps were being taken to improve the situation.

Speaking on Monday with the chiefs and people of some selected communities during a familiarisation tour, Mr Thomas Osei-Bonsu, Municipal Chief Executive (MCE), said his outfit would pursue pragmatic policies to promote quality education

As part of measures, he pledged to support brilliant but needy students in the area and promised that the Assembly would uplift the educational standards in the Municipality.

During the tour, Mr Osei-Bonsu introduced himself to the people of Behwe; Daawereso; Amantena; Nyamponase; Akutuase and Wioso.

He said the low level of education in the Municipality required all and sundry to put their hands on deck to improve the situation.

Mr Osei-Bonsu urged parents to invest more in their children's education and said the Government was committed to deliver on its promise of providing free school uniforms to pupils in the rural areas.

He appealed to the people to rally behind the Government in its pursuit of sound economic policies that would improve the living conditions of Ghanaians.
