DCE expresses concern about frequent armed robbery

The DCE for Pru, Masawud Mohammed has expressed worry about the frequent armed robberies in the District and entreated security agencies there to redouble their efforts to fight the menace.  The DCE expressed the sentiment at the first ordinary meeting of the Pru District Assembly at Yeji.  Mr. Mohammed stressed the need for the security agencies to be more professional in their work and live above reproach.  He pointed out that the image of the police in the District is not the best and that much more is expected from them. 

The DCE also appealed to the public to co-operate with the police in criminal investigations.  Mr. Mohammed said his administration inherited a huge debt of almost GHC1,176.  He also said he inherited about GHC54,417 from ten different accounts as at third June this year. 

On another positive note, the DCE said the District has the potential of raising more revenue because of its natural gift-the lake Mr. Mohammed stated that the average revenue of the Pru District Assembly is about GHC1,800 and urged the Finance and Administration sub-committee of the Assembly to assist in monitoring revenue mobilization as well as its utilization.  

He said, Yeji Township will be given a facelift, adding that about 12 kilometers of the Yeji township roads will be tarred.  Mr. Mohammed said two three unit classroom blocks with ancillary facilities would be constructed at Ajaraja-Beposo and the Yeji Methodist Primary school will be completed by December, this year.
