Man, 40, arrested for possessing Indian hemp

Kumasi, July 29, GNA - The Ashanti Regional Police Command, on Monday apprehended Kwadwo Boadu, a 40-year-old farmer, for allegedly possessing large quantities of dried leaves believed to be Indian hemp.

Police Chief Inspector Oheneba Dankwa told GNA in Kumasi on Tuesday that the Police had a tip off that Boadu was dealing in narcotic drugs at his residence in Poano near Ashanti Bekwai.

Chief Insp. Dankwa said the suspect was packaging the dried leaves into black polythene bags when the Police arrived at his house.

He said Boadu attempted to attack the Police with a cutlass but he was overpowered.

Chief Insp. Dankwa said samples of the dried leaves had been sent to Accra for forensic test.
