Kumasi, July 25, GNA - The Offinso North District Assembly in
collaboration with its residents abroad would provide education sponsorship
for needy but brilliant students.
The collaboration is also to formulate measures to expand
vocational and technical schools in the district to train the youth and school
drop-outs to acquire employable skills.
Mr Kojo Appiah-Kubi, the District Chief Executive (DCE), who told
the Ghana News Agency on Friday in Kumasi, said the assembly was
determined to promote education.
He said stakeholders would be encouraged to invest in education at all
levels in order for the district to build the kind of human resource base needed
to support the developmental agenda of the area.
The DCE expressed unhappiness about the high rate of
unemployment among the youth in the district.
Mr Appiah-Kubi touched on post-harvest losses of agricultural
products particularly, tomato, which is produced on large-scale in the area as
another major concern to the assembly.
“My predecessors were working hard to secure storage facilities and
processing machines for tomato storage and I hope to continue with
consultations with stakeholders for the achievement of this objective”.
The DCE said farmers found it difficult to plough back their
investments due to the post-harvest losses.

policies and programmes.
