Nkoranza DCE calls for unity of purpose to forge development

Akumsa-Domase (B/A) July 23, GNA – Mr. Emmanuel Kwadwo Agyekum, Nkoranza South District Chief Executive (DCE), has advised the chiefs and people in the area not to allow politics to divide their ranks and undermine the local development agenda.

He called for unity of purpose to promote development programmes that would enhance the lot of the people.

Mr Agyekum gave the advice when he addressed separate meetings with the chiefs and people of Akumsa-Domase, Dandwa and Grumakrom as part of his familiarisation tour of the district.

The DCE assured the people that his doors are open to all, irrespective of one's political affiliation and would not discriminate in serving the district.

He expressed concern about the high rate of unemployment among the youth and asked them to embrace grass cutter rearing, piggery, mushroom production, gari processing and other economic ventures to improve on their livelihood.

Mr. Agyekum stressed: “if you should engage yourselves in these ventures, you could source for some credit facilities from financial institutions to expand your businesses.”

He asked the people to cultivate the habit of “do it yourself” and involved themselves in active communal labour, to attract support from government and non-governmental organisations towards the development of their communities.

Nana Nyarko Boadum II, chief of Akumsa-Domase assured the DCE that his people would offer the necessary support to his administration to enable him to serve to expectation.

He appealed to the district assembly to assist the people to renovate the local Junior High School and also provide septic tank, place of convenience and two boreholes, to address the sanitation and water problems in the community.

At Danwa, Mr. George Franklin Effah, the Assemblyman appealed to the district assembly to construct a three- classroom block for the local primary school and connect Grumakrom township to the national electricity grid.

Nana Yaw Aduyobo, Chief of Danwa advised the district assembly to inform opinion leaders about contract works they award, to enable the people to monitor the works of contractors and check them against shoddy works.
