AIS holds 37th Speech and Prize Giving Day

The Chief Justice, Justice Georgina Wood has expressed concern about ht declining attitudes of youth of today.  She observed that, every Ghanaian seems to be lamenting about the get rich quick attitude which has resulted in growing social menace, pre-marital sex and other vices in society. Mrs. Wood said this in a speech read on her behalf at the 37th Speech and Prize Giving Day of the Akosombo International School at Akosombo.  

The theme for the occasion was, the Challenges Facing Educators in Raising Tomorrow's Leaders with Right Attitudes and Values.  

The Chief Justice noted, that education must be used in the broader sense with reference to teachers, parents, guardians, religions leaders and anyone concerned with morals and in a way to inculcate the right societal values in the youth.  She explained that education is critical for achieving ethical awareness, values and attitudes.  

The Chief Justice therefore advised all and sundry to help change people's attitudes and behaviour and promote sustainable development.  

The Chief Executive of the Volta River Authority, Kweku Awotwi gave the assurance that the school's dormitory which is in a dilapidated state will be completed by the authority.  

The Headmaster of the School, Mr. J.F. Tawiah in his report said speaking of Pidgin English among the students have been banned.  He also mentioned that the school continues to excel academically since its establishment in 1962.
