Woyongo charges Municipal & District chief executives Prosecute people who litter the environment

AS PART of his efforts to intensify his crusade against improper disposal of waste across the region, the Regional Minister, Mr. Mark Woyongo, has charged all the Municipal and District Chief Executives (M&DCEs) to strictly enforce all their by-laws, including those that would lead to the prosecution of people who litter the environment.

At a meeting with the chief executives, district planning officers and coordinators to address a wide range of issues including sanitation, tree planting and concerns on shoddy execution of projects by contractors, the Regional Minister stressed that when the by-laws are made to work, their wrath would deter people from littering the environment.

M r. Woyongo said those who would fall foul of the law, could also be fined by the assemblies to generate revenue that would in turn be used for the development of these assemblies.
