Accra, July 13, GNA — Mr Boniface Abubakar Saddique, former Minister for Water Resources, Works and Housing, has called on chiefs to do away with chieftaincy disputes to enable them to develop their communities.

He regretted that long-standing chieftaincy disputes in some areas had thrown some communities into “darkness” thereby derailing their development efforts.

Mr Saddique made the call at the installation of Nakyinaba Mahamin Iddi Sumani as the Sub-Chief of the Mamprusi community in Accra on Sunday.

The former Minister said the issue of chieftaincy disputes could only be avoided when there was unity and oneness among people.

He, therefore, urged them to team up with their members to ensure development adding that without unity there would be no development.

Mr Saddique urged the youth to be obedient and law abiding and asked them not to allow themselves to be used as agent to foment chaos and confusion.

He also appealed to the youth to desist from the “get-rich-quick” attitude and concentrate on their vision and their set goals to enhance their standard of living in future.

Alhaji Checkson Osman Issahaku, Greater Accra Regional Mamprusi-Naa, advised the newly-installed sub-chief to work in harmony with his elders to ensure peace and tranquility in the community.

He expressed the hope that the newly-installed chief would work towards uniting all factions in order to accelerate development in the community.

Nakyinaba Sumani pledged his commitment to work with the people and ensure that there was always peace in the community.
