Vehicular traffic continues to build up in Accra ahead of the visit of US President Barack Obama.

Mr Obama, his family, aides and a team of journalists aboard Air Force One are due to arrive at 8:50 pm for a two day visit.

Police announced massive road blocks and traffic redirections five hours before the visiting president arrives.

Following this traders and office workers reportedly left their offices earlier than usual to escape the anticipated traffic buildup.

But they may have calculated wrongly. Joy FM reporters who witnessed the situation said some drivers tooted their horns in frustration while others moved along the shoulders of the street to steal their way through.

Traffic which usually started from the 37 Military Hospital towards the Tetteh Quarshie Interchange has stretched to the Ridge roundabout, Osu and some parts of Accra Central.
