The Chief of the Moshie Community in the Greater Accra Region, Naba Sigirie Is-hak Sulleman, has appealed to the youth in Ghana to desist from using shortcuts to get rich quick.
He noted that using shortcut ways to make money quickly had the potential to destroy the total development of the youth.
Naba Sigirie Sulleman made the appeal at a General Meeting of the Kadiogio Youth and Development Association of Ghana (KYDAG) in Accra recently, where the over 24 interim executive members were inducted into office to run the affairs of the association for over six months.
The KYDAG, which is a non-political and non-religious organisation, was formed in 1992 to mobilise and unite all Moshie youth in Ghana under one umbrella for meaningful development.
The over two thousand member association also aims at galvanising the energies of the youth to undertake developmental projects, as well as protecting and defending the image of the Moshie tradition in the country.
Naba Sigirie Sulleman, who is also the Life Patron of the KYDAG, stressed that for Ghana to attain the Millennium Development Goals (MDGs) by 2015, the youth must be integrated in all spheres of human endeavour.
He advised the youth to seek knowledge, and not use it to do unpleasant things such as the current cyber fraud being committed by them.
Naba Sigirie further admonished the youth to be loyal, obedient and law-abiding citizens of the country, and desist from engaging in social vices.
On the achievements of the Kadiogio Youth and Development Association of Ghana, the Chief disclosed that the association had procured sewing machines to some of the women to make them financially sound.
Naba Sigirie Sulleman revealed that an independent committee would be set up in two weeks to look into the financial performance of the association, and appealed to the members to attend meetings regularly, to enable them carry out the vision and mission of the association.
The immediate Past Chairman of the association, Alhaji Musah, called on the interim executive members not to lord it over the members of the association, but rather serve them with all hearts and minds.
He urged them to hold executive meetings regularly, be united, and ensure an open door policy to attract more people to the organisation.
The interim Chairman of the Kadiogio Youth and Development Association of Ghana, Mr. Abdul-Razak Ouedrago, said that he would use his tenure of office to embark on a comprehensive membership drive to increase the size of the association.
The Interim Executive Members of the association included the Chairman, Mr. Abdul-Razak Ouedrago, Vice Chairman, Mr. Mohammed Madi Quanda, and Mr. Tahiru Ayobi General Secretary.
