Thrills At Oriens Durbar
Pupils of Oriens Complex School at Adenta in Accra held a durbar to climax a week’s visit by their UK partners who were in the school as part of an annual exchange programme with the school.
The Boy Scouts of the school mounted a parade which was reviewed by the headmistress of the school and the UK partners.
The school’s brass band was a delight to watch as the band boys exhibited some skills to the admiration of the large gathering of parents who joined the school for the event.
But it was the cultural display that held everybody spellbound. And when the Igwe Dancers took the floor, most parents could not help but join them in their choreographic performance.
Some parents showed their appreciation by applauding, while others dropped some money in a bowl for the dancers.
The Headteacher of the school, Mrs Edith Mawusi Ekpedzor, explained that the two schools, Oriens Complex School and the Brooksbank School & Sports College in the (UK), had been in partnership for the past three years, during which teachers from both schools visited each other annually to exchange ideas.
She was grateful to the partners for the visit and for sharing knowledge with the school. Mrs Ekpedzor was also grateful to parents for supporting the school as well as for their commitment to its growth.
The Member of Parliament for Adenta, Mr Kojo Asare, urged parents to see their roles as a divine duty towards the proper upbringing of their children.
