Bolgatanga, July 5,- GNA- The Upper East Regional first Vice Chairman of the National Democratic Congress(NDC) , Mr. Richard Adua, has cautioned the party's Constituency Executives in the Region to be wary of political opponents who claimed to be party members and wanted to stand for the upcoming elections for the Ward and Branch Chairmen positions in the Region.

Mr. Adua gave the caution in a Press Release he signed at the weekend in Bolgatanga, Upper East Region.

He noted that there were some faceless activists and influential figures within the NDC Party who, in order to achieve their parochial interests had clandestinely manoeuvred for the election of certain people who were dormant during the last election.

He indicated that some newly defected activists of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) and the People's National Convention Party (PNC) had been elected as branch Chairmen in some constituencies.

“Constituency Executives should be aware that some of these people who infiltrate their ranks are covertly and overtly used by our opponents to create rancour and division in the NDC”, he said.

He therefore advised the constituency executives to abide by the rules and regulations governing the election of branch and ward executives as stipulated in the party's constitution and the guidelines issued by the National Executive Committee (NEC).

He stated that, among the rules and regulations a prospective branch or a ward Executive should be an active member of the NDC for two years and be of good standing.

“You the Constituency Executives must be wary of opportunists who have suddenly joined the party in their desire to benefit from the opportunities inherent in a ruling government”, he cautioned, stressing that, some of the opportunists never participated in the NDC programmes and activities when in opposition and should be made to justify their genuine commitment to the party's cause before given positions.
