A person's confidence is best measured by his or her willingness to take risks. Fear is best reflected by the degree to which a person seeks to avoid risk. This reinforces the veracity of the old adage"Nothing ventured, nothing gained".The possibility of loss, is as necessary to success as air is to life. You, just take a sober reflection on this incontestible fact that, what would have happened to this beautiful world if everyone decided to try to live hundred percent risk-free life. The sophiscated and mind-boggling inventions, explorations,and discoveries which have made it a lot easier for man to move from one geographical area to another would not have materialised and realised, if those visionaries who dared those inventions and discoveries had made hundred percent risk-free as their safety belt. It cannot be gainsaid that the industrial revolution which marked the watershed of the middle of 18century and 19century giant stride in development and precipitated and reinforced other areas as a result of introduction of machinery, was by the reason of the fact that, there were men and women who saw risks as a building blocks and stepping stones.

Imagine what would happen if all the plethora of social, commercial, economic and other host of activites which is a vehicle on which the day to day depends are to be done in the atmosphere of hundred percent risk-free environment. No farmer would plant a crop because there might be too much rain or too little rains. Worststill, the market price for the produce might collapse. No one would start a business because competition might cause it to fail. Investors would not put money into new construction, oil well exploration and into new ventures. Artist and authors would stop work for fear that people might reject their creativity. As a matter of fact, to be completely secure, people might take their money from the bank, drivers would refuse to drive, various surgical work at the hospital might not be tempted as well as cornucopia of other socio-economic activities all for fear of lack of hundred percent security and this will invariably cause a total stand still,if not an irrecoverable annihilation of any economy.

Its worthy of note that success-oriented people take risks and sometimes the risks turn out be losses. Studies reveal that thousands of successful millionairs once took a risk in purportedly lucrative ventures and lost miserably but their magic wand that propelled and bounced them back on the road of unparalleled success was their persistence,perseverance and resilience. It is said that the oil rich countries of today once took a risk of spending millions of dollars in their bid of discovering and exploring, and look at how their oil has become as indispensable to other countries as blood to the body. It therefore goes without saying that how we react to defeat and failure is a deteminant key to our ultimate success. At times you feel like giving up that brilliant idea if you are not careful.The pressure from average minded and mediocre friends to surrender can be powerful.They tell you, the plan is not working why beat your head against the wall?. This brings into mind the three kinds of people. They are completely surrendred, partially surrendred and never surrendred people

Those who surrender completely are those who are convinced deep down inside that they haven't got what it takes and therefore, real success, real accomplishment is for others who are lucky or fortunate in some special respect.You can easily locate these elements because they go to great length to rationalise their status quo and try desperately to convince people how happy and content they are in their mediocre situation. The next category of people are those who surrender partially.These people enters into adult life with considreable hope of success. They prepare themselves, they work, and plan but somewhere along the line as the race, competition and struggles in life becomes tough, hectic and excruciating, instead of them to embrace the common aphorism that"when it becomes tough, then tough people gets going", these group sadly decides that greater success is not worth struggling for and then throws in the towel.These are the kinds of people who tends to console themselves with "we are earning more than average and we live better than the average, so why should I knock myself so hard".

To be upfront, this group has developed a sense of fears, fear of failure, fears of social disapproval, fear of insecurity, and the fear of losing what they already have.The inner thirst and hunger is still hunting these people because deep down them they know without a shadow of doubt that they have surrendered. The last category of people are those who never surrender.These group never allow pessimissm to dictate to them at all.They dont believe in surrendering to suppressive forcs, and dont kowtow to stumbling blocks.Instead these people live and breath success. This group is the happiest because in spite of struggles and trenchant and incesssant difficulties, they end up as winners. These people find life stimulating, rewarding, and worthwhile, they look forward to each new day, a new encounter with other people as adventures as to be lived fully. Above all, they s ee difficulties and struggles as stepping stones and bridges to greater attainment and achievements. There is no wonder that this group is made up of great leaders with convincing achievements like inventors, explorers, presidents, scholars, business tycoons, outstanding sportsmen and a host of others.
