Driver jailed seven years for stealing

Kumasi, June 30, GNA - A circuit Court in Kumasi has sentenced Adam Moro, a driver, to seven years imprisonment for stealing a mini bus.

Moro pleaded guilty to the offence.
Chief Inspector Martin Asenso told the court presided over by Mr. Adjei Frimpong that the complainant and the accused, who were friends, resided at Suame in Kumasi.

He said that in June, complainant was driving an Urvan TD Mini bus with registration number, AS 2802 Z from Kejetia towards Suame, and on reaching a spot near a filling station Moro joined the complainant's vehicle.

Chief Insp. Asenso said the accused alighted at a spot near Suame Roman Catholic Church and the driver drove home.

Prosecution told the court that on June 4, at about 0430 hours, the complainant realised that the vehicle had been stolen from where it was packed and he report the matter to the Police.

Chief Insp. Asenso said that on June 7, at about 0900 hours, the complainant spotted the accused driving the bus at Sowutuom, a suburb of Accra, and alerted the police and the accused was arrested.
