Kumasi, June 30, GNA- The Rt. Rev. Dr. Yaw Frimpong-Manso, Moderator of the General Assembly of the Presbyterian Church of Ghana, has called on Ministers of Religion to maintain a high sense of integrity and love in their work.
He said there was the need for them to guard their integrity in dealing with the opposite sex, in matters concerning money in the Church, in their family affairs, exhibit sound theological competence and serve as a model of the ministry they pursue.
The Moderator emphasized that most people today would not hesitate to raise their hands and voices to condemn God's anointed people who get involved in fraudulent deals and immoral activities.
He was delivering a sermon at the ordination of seven Ministers, including a woman, of the Presbyterian Church under the theme “Christ Died So That We Must Live”, at the Ramseyer Congregation at Adum in the Kumasi Metropolis last Sunday.
The ordination, the second and the last in the series to be organized by the Church this year for the northern sector, involved the Rev. Seth Duodu Abedi, Rev. George Agyei Kwabi and Rev. Peter Atta-Adjei.
The rest were the Rev. Doris Juliet Attafuah, Rev. Joseph Noah Kwesi Nartey, Rev. Emmanuel Goddy Ntiamoah and Rev. Kristensen Joseph Yeboah.
The Rt. Rev. Frimpong-Manso stressed the need for all Ghanaians especially government officials, Parliamentarians, the Judiciary and those holding higher positions within the Church and Society to resolve to provide selfless and devoted leadership, saying “today our country needs leaders who are selfless, dedicated and inspirational.”
He also urged Ghanaians to realize the need to go the extra mile and try to live within their means, adding that “it is through sacrifice that we can reduce waste in all places including the Church, homes and offices”.
“As citizens we must also be willing to 'die', to sacrifice for each other and for our country. We must not rejoice at the destruction of our enemies or even any other part of our dear nation Ghana, for whatever affects one affects all of us” he said. The Rev. Frimpong-Manso added that it was important for workers to work hard to earn their salaries, and that all must serve for the development of the motherland. “If we can do this best, we must take a cue from Christ's sacrificial death on the Cross and give our lives to him absolutely,” the Moderator declared.
