AFAG calls off demo
Political pressure group Alliance for Accountable Governance (AFAG) has called off their planned demonstration.
The group gave indications they were going to demonstrate against what they say are harsh living conditions in the country.
Police earlier indicated they were not in position to provide security for the demonstrators but the organisation were adamant, necessitating a court action by the police.
They secured a court injunction on the demonstration.
Leader of AFAG, Daniel Ofori-Atta, told Joy News the pressure group “respects the sanctity of the courts and will abide by the court order.”
He indicated AFAG will be holding a press conference Tuesday to draw attention to some issues.
He described the president's directive to the IGP to provide security for the demonstration as mischievous.
President J.E.A. Mills Monday issued a statement calling on the Inspector General of Police, Paul Quaye to make it possible for AFAG to embark on their demonstration.
