IN THEIR bit to put smiles on the faces of the less privileged kids in society, three children of the Tema International School have donated assorted drinks and used clothing to Next Generation Home and Orphanage, in the Bolgatanga Municipality.
The leader of the group, Miss Ama Yeboah Adi-Dako, told Upper East File that she together with her colleagues' decision to support the under-privileged was based on the fact that they saw themselves among the privileged ones in society, thus the need to help the lesser-privileged ones to feel loved and cared for.
While pledging more support for such kids in society, Miss Yeboah Adi-Dako urged other privileged ones to also contribute in the same direction, to show love and care.
When it was revealed that children in the orphanage lacked educational or learning materials, the group leader observed that education of children was key top a better society, and promised to source for assistance and come to the aid of the children.
Miss Yeboah Adi-Dako said their sources of generating funds and items to support the under privileged children, were mainly savings made from their 'chop monies,' and assistance from friends and colleagues who also share their ideology.
Other members of the group included Miss Jeani Tamakloe and Master Kwasi Adi-Dako, all students of Tema International School.
Mr. Felix Frederick Ameiga-Etego, Project Manager of Next Generation Home, mentioned residential, home based care, and education support programmes, drop-in and child trafficking programmes as being ran at the home.
He disclosed that in collaboration with the Social Welfare Ministry and Domestic Violence and Victim Support Unit (DOVVSU) of the Ghana Police Service, the home has resettled about 70 children.
Currently, the home is housing 18 children, made up of 2 girls and 16 boys.
Before the group presented the items to the orphanage, they earlier paid a courtesy call on the Paramount Chief of the Bolgatanga traditional area, Naba Martin Adongo Abilba III, who applauded them for their initiative, and gave them his blessings.
