Carpenter, 47, defiles girl, 15

Kade, June 20, GNA- Kwame Ahaley, a 47-year-old carpenter, on Friday appeared before the Kade District Magistrate Court charged with defiling a

15-year-old girl.
The plea of Ahaley was not taken and he was remanded in police custody to reappear on July 3.

Presenting the facts of the case, Police Inspector S.A. Atsu, said the girl; a class five pupil lived in the same vicinity with the carpenter at Akwatia.

He said about a week ago, the wife of the complainant detected changes in the walking of the girl and suspected that something had happened to her.

She therefore confronted her to find out if she had been sexually or physically assaulted.

The prosecutor said it was during that confrontation that the girl revealed that she had been defiled by the accused in a palm plantation in the area.

The woman reported the matter to her husband who confronted Ahaley and

he admitted having had sexual intercourse with the girl.

A report was made to the police and Ahaley was arrested and the girl was later provided with a medical form to attend hospital.
