Man faces court for possessing Indian hemp

Tarkwa, June 18, GNA - A Tarkwa Circuit Court has adjourned a case involving a 22-year-old unemployed Bismark Yeboah for possessing a quantity of dried leaves suspected to be Indian Hemp.

He pleaded guilty to the charge and he will re-appear on June 20.

Deputy Superintendent of Police Albert Adiita told the court that on December 7, 2008 the accused, who claims to be an illegal miner (galamsey operator), was spotted in a nearby bush dealing in quantity of dried leaves suspected to be Indian hemp.

A report was made to the police and the accused arrested a bag which he claimed ownership of. When it was search 143 wrappers of dried leaves suspected to be Indian hemp were found in it.

He told police that he bought the stuff from a man at Bawdie.
