The pupils of Ho-Bankoe R.C. School Complex have contributed GH¢300 to support a 4-year-old colleague, Amenuveve Morgan, who has developed a tumor on her right cheek, which calls for urgent medical attention.
A Primary Six pupil, Abigail Owusuwah, explained to the Volta File that she and her colleagues became worried when for sometime the 4-year old girl failed to attend school regularly, until she finally stopped coming to school, as her condition was worsening.
She said due to the poor health condition of Amenuveve, and the poor state of the family, the pupils decided to contribute from the little monies their parents gave them for school, to help ensure that the poor girl received medical attention, to enable her to come back to join her friends in school.
The father of Amenuveve, Mr. Michael Morgan, said the family detected a blood stain in the right eye of Amenuveve when she was one year old, and at two years the right cheek started swelling, and when they visited the Ho Polytechnic, Ho Municipal, and Regional hospitals the sickness could not be detected and were they referred to the Korle-Bu Teachiong Hospital, which they could not do due to the lack of money.
He therefore appealed to benevolent organisations, non-governmental organisations (NGOs) and individuals to help the family raise funds to provide assistance to cure Amenuveve of her sickness to enable her to continue with her education, saying the GH¢300 contributed by the children would be used to diagnose the sickness at Kole-Bu, before the total cost of the operation would be determined.
The Headteacher of the Ho-Bankoe R.C Primary School presented the GH¢300 to the father of Amenuveve, Mr. Michael Morgan.
