The Ghanaian Journal source at the Castle tells the paper that the President John Evans Atta Mills is in talks with senior government officials to decide on the faith of the Youth and Sports Minister, Alhaji Muntaka Mohammed-Mubara.

Although the presidency seems to be denying on that fact some senior ministers told the Ghanaian Journal that it is likely the minister might be relieved from his duties later today. It is expected that a press statement would be released.

Presidential Spokesperson, Mahama Ayariga said the report was unfortunate since no communication has been put out by the Presidency to that effect.

News reports of a scandal involving the Minister broke on Wednesday, compelling the President to summon him to the Osu Castle for grilling.

Sources close to the Castle say the President is very angry with the Asawase MP, after a leaked internal memo implicated him in lavish spending at the Ministry, in direct contrast to the President's policy against profligate spending.

Sources say the President has asked for some form of investigations into the matter for the appropriate action.

The Ghanaian Journal will publish the full detail of governments press release if released this evening.
